Scented pillows and butler service is not his style.

You are more likely to find Stroumboulopoulos staying in a dive motel in a sketchy part of town singing Billy Idol’s Rebel Yell. For me it’s music, so whatever is connected to me through music. I do a lot of road trips in the United States especially in the deep south and the places that I stay I have a baseball bat in my trunk with me (when not driving his motorcycle) and I bring it into my motel. That idea of the romantic American Road trip, it’s kind of gone.

Warning: The following contains scenes of nudity, sexuality and coarse language. I’ve just spent four hours with (okay, in the general proximity of) George Stroumboulopoulos, who has been in Vancouver all week taping The Hour.

Honestly, the following post is so free of sin it would make the Pope proud.

He's been dating the same woman for about a year, and it seems pretty darn serious; she even spent the holidays with his family! Drew Scott got engaged to longtime girlfriend Linda Phan at the end of 2016, and it seems Jonathan might not be far behind.

"When you meet somebody who makes you smile and laugh non stop . We wanted to learn more about Jonathan's girlfriend, so we did a little digging.

This rebel however brings his passion to important social and environmental causes that take him to such far flung places from the high Arctic, the earthquake torn streets of Haiti to conflict-torn Sudan.

The first time I went to New York was because of the music I listened to. I don’t stay when possible in a nice hotel – I don’t even stay in a Days Inn. There’s Best Buys and Home Depots, KFC and rampant poverty and cops. But Mississippi is a place that is still really beautiful.

I spend a lot of time in the Deep South because of the music. I go and sketch out the most compromised neighbourhood at a drive-in motel and that’s where I stay. Joshua Tree (National Park – California) is like my holy land. I don’t drink or do drugs anymore, so I can’t do maybe what some of my friends have done. What are some of the things you enjoy doing when travelling? What’s the most interesting thing you have seen in your travels?

Any interesting places outside North America you have done a motorcycle trip? In Sudan I got into a bit of problem with the Janjaweed. I felt less safe in parts of New Orleans then I felt in Haiti. What’s the “must have” item that you bring on every trip?

I have ridden a motorcycle from Dublin to Belfast which is amazing. For me it’s like music, healthy snacks and it’s going to sound super cheesy to say this but an open heart. I don’t want to go and have my experience I want to go and have the experience.
